Vikings legend Randy Moss: ‘Your boy is a cancer survivor’
Dec 13, 2024
Vikings legend Randy Moss announced on Friday afternoon that he’s being treated for cancer.
He made the announcement via Instagram Live, walking into the frame with the assistance of a cane, taking a seat in a chair, and proudly proclaiming, “Your boy is a cancer survivor.”
In the 16-minute, 42-second, Moss said that his doctors found the cancerous mass in his bile duct, between his pancreas and his liver, and that he underwent a procedure to remove it. He was recently discharged from the hospital and said he will be undergoing chemotherapy and radiation.
The discovery came as a result of Moss, 47, having a procedure to put a stent in his liver on Thanksgiving because he was experiencing discoloration in his urine.
After thanking a number of people, including his doctors, various staff members at the hospital, family and friends, as well as everybody who prayed for him along the way, Moss also urged everybody to get screened on a regular basis.
Though he’s currently on an extended leave of absence from his role on ESPN earlier this month, Moss made it clear that wants to return to his position as soon as he can. He shouted out a number of his co hosts on ESPN before adding, “My goal is to get back on television with my team.”
Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018, Moss burst onto the scene with the Vikings, and went on to establish himself as the best receiver in franchise history. He also played for the Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and San Francisco 49ers, finishing his career with 982 catches for 15,292 yards and 156 touchdowns.
