PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A three-alarm fire in Providence on Tuesday has left nine people without a home, including a mother and son who just months ago unexpectedly lost a family member.
"They lost everything that they had," Robin Pizzo said. "They got out, you know, just with the clothes on their back pretty much."
Pizzo's niece Danielle and her 9-year-old son Andre lost all of their belongings after the fire tore through their Elmwood Avenue apartment.
"This fire just before Christmas, they had all the gifts," Pizzo said. "I mean, they had their tree, everything. Everything is in their home anyway. They have nothing."

"I was just devastated. I just sat and cried. I didn't know what to do. I mean, they've been through so much," Pizzo continued.
This comes just months after Andre lost his father, and the fire destroyed sentimental belongings, including a keepsake he will never get back.
"One of those stuffed animals he got when he was a baby. His dad had given it to him, and then he had another bear that he had given them all that he always slept with," Pizzo said. "He lost both of them."
He also lost a makeshift memorial he made for his dad that included pictures.
The community has since set up a GoFundMe page and an Amazon gift list to help them, in hopes of keeping the spirit of Christmas alive.
"If anybody could help, I would greatly appreciate it, because they have nothing," Pizzo said. "My heart's broken. It really is for these kids. I mean, people are helping, and I appreciate that."
