Truck crashes into AR pawn shop, suspects look for guns

FORREST CITY, Ark. — Suspects crashed into a pawn shop looking to steal weapons last Saturday, just after the Forrest City Chiristmas parade.
Police say the suspects may be juveniles and are still on the run.
Forrest City Police Chief Ronald Broussard says after the truck crashed through the front of EZ Pawn and Retail Dec. 7, store security cameras recorded at least four suspects entering the business.
"It almost looked like a two-toned, extended cab truck ran into the building," he said. The suspects "ran into the store to steal weapons. They couldn't get the weapons because of the safety measures, fortunately, that the store owner has in place and ran out empty handed."
Police aren't releasing video of those suspects which appear to be juveniles wearing masks and dressed in black.
The owner of EZ Pawn Shop and Retail would not go on camera, but said after suspects attempted and failed to steal a rack of "long guns" they tried to break into a case of expensive video games and controllers. They were unsuccessful and fled empty handed but left a huge mess behind.
The owner says this break-in comes at one of his busiest times of the year.
There's about $18,000 worth of damage, plus he says he's going to go into his own pocket to pay for about 28 metal posts to be put in to prevent another break-in.
Chief Broussard says while officers routinely patrol around businesses, it's impossible to know when or where this kind of crime will happen.
"I'd have to be a psychic to get into the minds of the people and say, 'tonight they're going to do it, or tomorrow night they're going to do it.' Unfortunately we don't have that crystal ball," he said.
The owner of EZ Pawn and Retail is putting up a $1,000 reward.
