Dutch agribusiness opens new greenhouse in Pulaski County
Dec 13, 2024
Bosch Berries is opening a new greenhouse in Pulaski County. They’re investing $50 million into the operation and creating 28 new jobs.
The Netherlands-based company is known for growing peppers, blackberries and strawberries.
Judge/Executive Marshall Todd says the berries harvested locally will go to grocery stores across the region.
Judge/Executive Marshall Todd says the partnership is promising for the local economy. The company and the county have been working together for about a year.
“It means a lot to Pulaski county to have a national presence like this here,” Todd said. “They had a Dutch consultant here today from the Netherlands to talk about how collaborative we have been working with them.”
Todd says the berries harvested locally will go to grocery stores across the region.
“They’re not waiting on a shipment from California or Mexico or Latin America, Central America, to get here and be five or six days old. They can have them in the stores the next day, and some of them even sooner,” Todd said.
Bosch Berries also bought the AppHarvest facility in Somerset last year following that company’s bankruptcy. Todd says Bosch is looking at the region to be an indoor growing hub.
