LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The University of Kentucky Police Department and UK Cheer Team brought joy to young patients Friday with a donation parade delivering toys to Kentucky Children’s Hospital. According to UK, the majority of the toys were collected during the recent “Cram the Cruiser” toy drive, with additional contributions made in memory of Jonathan Ard, a Lexington native and Iraq War veteran who passed away in 2016. UK Police Chief Joe Monroe expressed pride in the community’s generosity, saying, “We always try to exceed what we’ve done in previous years, and this year we’ve exceeded what we did last year. So we’ve met our goal, but this is the single-largest toy drive for UK Children’s Hospital. This will take care of their toy needs for the whole year.” The donated toys were given to families of patients, allowing them to choose the perfect gift for their child. This year’s effort marks a significant milestone in providing support and cheer to children and families at Kentucky Children’s Hospital.
