KAUKAUNA, Wis. (WFRV) - The Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign is reaching out to local Wisconsinites for help this holiday season. They need more bell ringers to help drive donations. Local 5's Kaitlin Corbett was at Piggly Wiggly in Kaukauna where she spoke with volunteer bell ringers. Green Bay Police warn residents about growing “courier” scam in northeast Wisconsin Kristal Knudtson, who is the Director of Development and Marketing Communications for The Salvation Army Fox Cities says they are currently at $140,000 and still need to collect $120,000 in the next 10 days. The money goes towards programs to support families and people in need during the holiday season and beyond. 12-year-old Avrianna has been volunteering for the Red Kettle Campaign since she was 6 years old and this year she had her little brother to help out. Wisconsin officials explain the mystery behind plastic-covered fire hydrants The Red Kettle Campaign funds projects in the Fox Cities but it isn't the only reward from bell ringing. Avrianna says to think about the outcome because there are so many people that are in need. "Why do it? Because I know that it will make a family happy."
