Concern grows about mysterious drones

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) - People around the country are demanding information after a wave of mysterious drone sightings, but the government has yet to give any concrete answers
The federal government has said the drones are not a form of foreign interference but hasn't said exactly who's behind them or what they're doing.
"Where are these drones coming from?" asked Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.).
That's the million-dollar question when it comes to the mystery in the sky.
Since last month people have reported seeing dozens of drones mysteriously hovering in the sky at night. They were first spotted in New Jersey Congressman Josh Gottheimer’s state.
"It's totally ridiculous that we don't have more information,” said Gottheimer.
As lawmakers demand answers, the White House is downplaying the drones as a threat.
"We have no evidence at this time that the reported drone sightings pose a national security or a public safety threat,” said National Security Spokesperson John Kirby.
White House officials say right now the drones are not breaking any laws.
"Appears that many of the reported sightings are actually manned aircraft that are being operated lawfully,” said Kirby.
Former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan posted on X he saw mystery drones in his state.
Tennessee Congressman Tim Burchett says he knows why no one's reported sightings in his state.
"Because everybody's got a 12-gauge and they start dropping those things,” said Burchett.
