BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Two teenagers accused of a drive-by shooting are in custody after they fled from an attempted traffic stop.
17-year-old Ethan Kenneth Gasque and 19-year-old Keith Bryon Knowling are both charged with failure to stop for blue lights and attempted murder. Gasque is being charged as an adult.
Deputies patrolling Cainhoy Road Thursday night heard about ten gunshots come from the area of French Quarter Creek Road, the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office said.
As they drove closer to investigate, one officer noticed a Jeep operated with no registration information on the back or lights on. The Jeep was speeding off towards Ivory Trail.
At the same time deputies attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, they received dispatch reports of a shooting that had just happened on Ivory Trail.
A pursuit ensured. The Jeep stopped at Brightwood Drive, and the occupants jumped out to switch seats before taking off again and heading into Georgetown County.
Eventually, the teens attempted to escape on foot and were apprehended by law enforcement, the sheriff's office said.
Afterward, deputies found spent shell casings and bullet hole damage to a home on Ivory Trail.
