LSP: Man hit, killed by car in Iberville Parish

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Louisiana State Police is investigating after a 66-year-old man was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash in Iberville Parish on Friday.
LSP said troopers were called to a crash on LA 75, east of Crochet Road, involving a pedestrian.
During the investigation, troopers learned that Gilmore Couvillion, of Plaquemine, was walking west on LA 75. A 2013 Hyundai Azera was in the westbound lane of LA 75 at the same time.
LSP said Couvillion tried to cross LA 75 and walked into the direct path of the Hyundai. As a result, the Hyundai struck Couvillion.
According to LSP, Couvillion was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries. The driver of the Hyundai wore a seatbelt at the time of the crash and remained uninjured.
This is an ongoing investigation.
