Accused drug dealer arrested, charged in Plaquemine after investigation

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office arrested a man after a drug bust in Plaquemine.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies performed a search warrant for a home on Barrow Street. During the search warrant, deputies arrested Dawan Seals Jr., 23, and seized 896 grams of marijuana and four guns. The seizure has an estimated street value of $17,900.
Seals was booked on charges of possession with the intent to distribute a Schedule I drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, four counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a controlled dangerous substance on or near a drug-free zone.
“Our narcotic agents are committed to making our neighborhoods safer, and today’s operation demonstrates our determination to tackle illegal drug activity,” said IPSO Sheriff Brett Stassi.
