CLARKSBURG, Md. (DC News Now) -- Safety concerns rise after a Montgomery County High School student was sent to the hospital after an off-campus fight between students from two different schools.
On Wednesday, the Principals at Damascus High School and Clarksburg High School sent letters to parents and families notifying them of an "altercation" that happened during lunchtime near Clarksburg High School.
A student was injured, and after being evaluated by a nurse, they were sent to the hospital.
"That's really frightening," said Parimanshu Uniyal, a parent of a Clarksburg High School student. "Of course something has to be done to fix this issue."

The letter also said the incident was videotaped and they're encouraging parents to talk to their children about spreading the video due to the harm and trauma it could cause.
They said in a statement in part: "We are deeply saddened that this conflict escalated to physical violence… Both schools will continue using restorative practices to address and prevent conflicts."
Lily Clingan a freshmen at Clarksburg High said the situation is concerning, and she hopes the school can make some changes.
“I honestly think there should be more security watching around the school to make sure that kids aren’t leaving campus during lunch,” she said. "The fact that such a violent thing can happen to students here is upsetting, but I’m hoping that it can show a message moving forward that we should stop violence in schools.”
This incident remains under investigation with Montgomery County Police according to the letter.
