DENVER The Denver Fire Department responded to a building "collapse" and broken gas line along Federal Boulevard in the city's Westwood neighborhood just after 12 a.m. Friday.The department posted on X, formerly Twitter, that it was responding to a collapse near West Virginia Avenue and Federal Boulevard. Within five minutes, the Denver Police Department also said officers were responding to a shooting in the 400 block of South Federal. The shooting and crash were connected, DPD confirmed to Denver7. A driver shot themselves in the leg, according to DPD, and then crashed into the restaurant Tarasco's and a gas line, leading to "free flowing" gas. Xcel Energy arrived and was able to shut off the gas. The person was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition, DPD told Denver7.
