Maine Police Sergeant killed in crash on Piscataqua River Bridge

KITTERY, Maine. (WWLP) - A police sergeant from Maine was killed in a crash early Thursday morning.

The two-vehicle crash happened on the Piscataqua River Bridge that carries I- 95 from New Hampshire to Maine at approximately 1:14 a.m., according to Maine State Police.
An initial investigation revealed that a box truck stopped in traffic on the Maine side of the bridge when a Toyota Camry driven by 41-year-old Sergeant Jacob Wolterbeek of Portsmouth, New Hampshire crashed into the truck.
Wolterbeek was an 18-year veteran of the Biddeford Police Department and leaves behind his wife and three children.
The crash is still being investigated at this time.
