LIBERTY COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) – No students were injured during a school bus crash in Liberty County Friday morning. According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Christopher Ashdown, the bus driver was traveling southbound on Groover Road around 6:30 a.m. when they turned slightly past the intersection at Ray Road where they intended to turn. Ashdown said the driver applied the brakes and tried to steer the bus onto Ray Road but skidded 53 feet on the dirt roadway before striking a tree. There were nine students on the bus but none were hurt, the trooper said. After being cleared by medical personnel, the students were transferred to another bus to get to school. The bus driver was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
