HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — A man is in custody and another man is dead as the result of a hit-and-run crash, according to the High Point Police Department.
At around 5:25 a.m. on Friday, officers came to the parking lot of a warehouse on the 700 block of Pegg Road.
At the scene, police found Gerard O. Lyons, 28, of Greensboro, dead at the scene.

Investigators say that a man driving a box truck ran over Lyons as he was walking through the parking lot. The front windshield of the box truck was covered in frost at the time of the crash.
The driver of the box truck, Andrew D. Rodgers, 27, of Greensboro, is also accused by police of parking the box truck and moving his personal vehicle to a different area of the warehouse parking lot before calling 911.
Rodgers is being charged with felony hit-and-run as well as careless and reckless driving. His bond was set at $10,000 secured.
The fatal crash is the seventh traffic fatality in High Point this year.
Police say the deadly crash "is a tragic reminder of why it's important to defrost your windows and make sure they are cleared off before you start driving."
