Circle Drive Bridge traffic to shift to new structure
Dec 13, 2024
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Starting Monday, Dec. 16, the Circle Drive Bridges will look a little different and have a new shift in traffic as part of the Circle Drive Bridges Project.
Traffic on the Circle Bridge will change on Monday. Drivers can expect intermittent closures throughout the day in both directions as the project moves into phase two. The work on the bridge on Monday is to open traffic to the public on the eastbound bridge and move the public off the westbound bridge to prepare for the demolition of the original westbound bridge.
"Before this project went in place, there really wasn't great pedestrian access over the bridge or definitely wasn't really the safest to ride a bike," said City Engineer and Deputy Public Works Director Gayle Sturdivan ."So it really had an impact on students having other mobility options to get to and from the high school. "
Westbound traffic will move to the eastbound lane in order to have two lanes moving in both directions. Drivers are advised to monitor local traffic signs to navigate the construction safely.
The second phase will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday and is expected to run through 20205.
