Week 15 begins with the Los Angeles Rams (7-6) and San Francisco 49ers (6-7) squaring off on “Thursday Night Football,” as both rival teams try to stay in the mix for a run at the NFC West title. These teams have met 151 times in their histories, with San Francisco holding a 79-69-3 regular season advantage, and a 1-1 tie in the postseason, while the Rams have won the past two meetings, including earlier this season in September. The Rams offense is back to full health and they are rolling, winning six of their last eight games, including scoring 44 points in a win over the Bills last week. We in Detroit have seen firsthand how smooth an offense can run when Matthew Stafford is clicking, and right now he looks to be in his element. The 49ers got whitewashed by the Bills in a snowstorm in Week 13—a game in which they lost both of their top running backs for the season—but managed to bounce back last week, dismantling the Bears and keeping their season alive. Heading into this game, both teams trail the Seahawks (8-5) for the division lead. The 49ers are two games back and split their two meetings with the Seahawks, putting them in a near-must-win scenario. While the Rams are in a much better spot, trailing by just one game, winning their earlier game against Seattle, and they will face off with the Seahawks in the season finale. Betting line and pick for the game The folks over at FanDuel Sportsbook are favoring San Francisco in this game with the betting line being set at 49ers -3 points. Both teams are coming off strong victories and need to secure this win to keep their postseason hopes alive, but to me, the Rams look like an ascending team while the 49ers are still battling obstacles. I’m picking the underdog to not only cover but win outright.
