SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Both Jenkins and Long County fell in the girls' flag football state semifinals after great seasons. The Blue Tide lost to Columbus 19-6 at home in Long County in the Division 1 State Semifinals. The Tide finished the season with 20 wins and only three losses. Regardless of the outcome, head coach Michael Austin said he has been proud of his team's development and chemistry all season. "They all play different sports and then they come together and get to play this sport," said Austin. "That's what's so cool about Flag, they get to play together from other sports and then it gels. And whenever it gels, it's really cool. They really love each other." Jenkins fell to Greenbrier 20-13 at Savannah High in the Division 2 State Semifinals. The Warriors also had a very solid season, finishing the year 17-3. Jenkins head coach Brianna Brooker said that she was very proud of their season. "My coaches and I worked really hard to get here," Brooker said. "I couldn't ask for a better staff, a better group of girls. I'm very proud of their season. We finished 17-3. It's a lot better than we've ever done before. Reaching the Final Four is a testament to the grit to their tenacity to them embodying the Warrior spirit. So, I'm super proud of them."
