NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Northampton has a new French cafe, and Thursday was the grand opening. The cafe, Suzette French Creperie is bringing a taste of France to Northampton with some savoring foods like crepes. Located on the first floor of Thornes Marketplace, the cafe was welcomed with open arms by the Northampton Mayor, city and state leaders, and the local community. This is the cafe's second location with the first being in Worcester. The co-owner, Jean-Luc Wittner originally from France told 22News that he's excited to bring a piece of his culture to the city. "It defines us. We are different. We are unique. We still a simple business. I always see, you know, we are fast, we are good, we are spectacular because you can watch us mean to crepes in front of you. We are Suzette. You know there's nothing like us," said Wittner. This business has also been accepted into the Greater Gift Card program, which keeps local dollars local and allows other businesses to be part of that economic equation. Currently, Northampton has over 118 local businesses part of this program. Through these businesses, nearly $375,000 goes back into growing the local economy each year.
