(WFRV) - Officials with the CDC released norovirus data that showed there were more reported outbreaks in 2024 compared to the same time period in 2023. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) say that between August 1 and November 6 there were 211 norovirus outbreaks that were reported by participating states. Over the course of the same period last year, there were only 189 norovirus outbreaks reported by those states. Sheriff’s office in Wisconsin warns of countywide storage locker thefts, recommend camera Wisconsin is one of the states that participate in the reporting. There is no data past November 6. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), says that although it is routinely called the stomach flu, it is not related to the flu. However, it is the leading cause of foodborne illness outbreaks in Wisconsin. The DHS says that people of all ages can get sick with norovirus.
