PENDLETON, Ind. — A former mental health professional for the Indiana Department of Correction is accused of having sex with an inmate in her office.
Jamie Anderson, 37, of Indianapolis is charged with one count of sexual misconduct, a Level 5 felony. A warrant for her arrest was issued on Dec. 4.
According to court documents, Anderson is accused of having sex with an inmate inside her Pendleton Correctional Facility office on Jan. 19.

Several staff members told investigators that they were passing Anderson's office at approximately 8:45 a.m. on their way to heat up their morning coffee when they spotted an inmate standing inside the office with his back to the door. The inmate allegedly had his shirt up and was making "thrusting motions," according to one of the witnesses.
The lights were also off inside Anderon's office, court documents reveal.
Both Anderson and the inmate "vehemently denied doing anything sexual" when confronted about the allegations, investigators said. The inmate said he had "sciatic nerve" issues which is why he stands up and down occasionally. Anderson also said she often keeps the lights off in her office due to the natural light that comes in through her windows.
The inmate refused to voluntarily allow investigators to swap his genitals for DNA, but a warrant was issued and granted for the swab. Police also collected the inmate's boxers, balled up paper towels and a wet wipe from the trashcan in Anderson's office as evidence.
In September, state police received the results of the DNA tests and found female DNA on both the boxers and the swab from the inmate's genitals. Police were then granted a warrant to obtain Anderson's DNA.
State police said Anderson refused to comply with a DNA swap at first until her lawyer finally convinced her to abide by the court order.
On Nov. 11, state investigators received final results from the DNA tests that "provides very strong support some sort of sexual intercourse occurred between Anderson and (the inmate)."
Charges were officially filed against Anderson on Dec. 3.
