Foxtrot We’re looking at an expanded breakfast taco menu, kids After abruptly closing down stores across the U.S. in April 2024, Foxtrot has been slowly making its return under new-old management. For Dallas, that means the doors of its shops on Knox Street in Knox-Henderson and on Hillcrest in University Park will swing back open in January 2025. What, exactly, caused the closures is unclear but Eater Chicago reported the company “seems to have run out of money after pursuing an ambitious and costly expansion” to open 50 new stores in two years. Foxtrot faced multiple changes in leadership in the year before its closure and merged with Chicago-based Dom’s Hospitality, ultimately filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Foxtrot co-founders Mike LaVitola and Taylor Bloom, the latter of whom is a Dallas native, paired with private equity and venture capital firm Further Point Enterprise back in May 2024 to buy the company’s assets in liquidation, Eater Chicago reported. LaVitola told Eater Chicago the company planned to re-open 10 to 12 stores in Chicago and a couple in Dallas, saying those were Foxtrot’s strongest markets. According to a release, several of the old favorites will return at the re-opening (Foxtrot cites the “popular gummies and gummy mixes”) along with fresh market offerings, and items from small and local businesses. Its breakfast taco menu is also getting an upgrade by working with an unnamed “local artisan” to expand it with three new options: borracho bean, brisket guisado, and grilled veggie tacos. Look for Foxtrot to return at 3130 Knox St. and 6565 Hillcrest Ave. after the new year.
