Discussion:
High pressure remains in control, keeping skies sunny and temperatures chilly. Highs will only reach the low 50s in the Piedmont and struggle to break out of the 30s in the Mountains. Under clear skies and calm winds, frost will likely develop tonight as lows fall into the 20s and low 30s. It will stay dry through the start the of the weekend, but clouds will begin to build back in Friday as a wedge sets up due to high pressure over New Englad. This will lock in cloudy skies Saturday and drop temperatures from the mid-50s Friday afternoon to the low 50s Saturday. Rain will develop Sunday with totals between 0.5-1″. Light freezing rain is possible early Sunday in the mountains before temps rise above freezing. Temperatures warm early next week back into the 60s, but it will remain unsettled with rain chances through mid-week.
