FORECAST DISCUSSION:
Good Thursday morning!
It is certainly cold outside! Temperatures are well below freezing with a wind chill making it feel more like single digits and the lower teens. While the rest of today is going to stay very cold, there at least is some hope for a warmup as we head into the weekend!
A very cold air mass has settled itself into Central Ohio. So, for the rest of today, the thermometer will likely not break out of the 20s. In fact, if our daytime high remains below 30 degrees, it will be the coldest of the season so far. Winds will remain strong for the first half of today. Wind chills will feel much colder than the actual temperature, but as winds let up later on, that gap will improve later today.
For Friday, temperatures will be a little warmer, but still only a touch above freezing. The day will start off with some sunshine, but clouds will build throughout the day, leaving us cloudy going into the weekend. Temperatures are finally warmer than normal on Saturday with the thermometer reaching into the mid 40s. Clouds remain steady through the day with chances for rain building in overnight.
Back to back systems will add in chances for rain beginning on Sunday. Temperatures will still be building in the meantime. We're touching the lower 50s on Monday of next week. Showers are still hanging around to start off next week, with a lingering chance for next Tuesday. Skies are drier and more seasonable going into the middle of next week.
