ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – He's no stranger to breaking the law. Earlier this year, KRQE News 13 reported on Curtis Vann after he stole a U-Haul and even thousands of dollars from a local Target. He later started a fight in the middle of a police substation, and now he's facing new charges. As the officer drove up, she said she heard something hit her vehicle. That's when she spotted 23-year-old Curtis Vann. Officer: "Do you need help with something? Why do you want to get arrested?" Vann continued to throw rocks in her direction and repeated the same thing over and over. Vann: "That's good enough to get arrested right?"Officer: "Unrelated to my call, I have a subject out here throwing rocks at me saying he wants to get arrested." Vann admitted he made the initial call just to get officer's attention. As she approached Vann, he began to lie down. He lay there silent until she cuffed him. Officer: "So why do you want to go to jail?"Vann: "I just do."Officer: "Is there like a reason?"Vann: "No."Officer: "Do you just need somewhere to stay or like what?"Vann: "No, I actually stay in 107." While the officer cuffs him he requests she double cuff him. Officer: "Have you been to jail before or something?"Vann: "Yeah, yeah." He went on to tell the officer about his previous arrests including battery at a police substation. Vann: "Well, it was originally shoplifting then battery."Officer: "Did you like it there?" Vann is placed in the patrol car when two more officers show up. Officer: "Wasting all of our time and resources man so you can get a fun experience."Officer: "Curtis, Curtis, Curtis." Vann is facing charges for assault on a police officer and making a false report. In all of his charges, there is competency issues. In this case, he is being evaluated to see if he is competent to stand trial.
