NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Visiting hotel lobbies is a holiday tradition for many in New Orleans. The Ritz-Carlton New Orleans is hoping you'll make a stop to see its gingerbread streetcar, which features famous Louisiana faces.
All aboard the gingerbread streetcar at The Ritz-Carlton New Orleans!
"The base of the structure is made by the New Orleans Opera Association Scenic Studio, and it is completely covered in gingerbread, candy and icing by our very own Ritz-Carlton pastry elves," said Senior Communications Manager at Ritz-Carlton New Orleans Annie Jones.
Their gingerbread streetcar uses 445 pounds of flour, 475 pounds of sugar, 400 eggs and 80 pounds of butter.
"This treat is just for the eyes," she said.

Jones said this one's not to ride, but it still has some famous riders.
"It is a fun way to bring New Orleans in and it is a way to show off different Louisiana personalities in the windows of the streetcar," she said.
Year after year, there are riders like Robin Roberts, Irma Thomas, Richard Simmons and Emeril Lagasse, who are along for the ride with some notable newcomers.
"We wanted to have Lainey Wilson on the streetcar this year. She is a super successful country music star, she's hosted the Country Music Awards and won several of them. She's also from the tiny town of Baskin, Louisiana," said Jones.
"Truman Capote was also added this year. He's the famed author of Breakfast at Tiffany's. He was born at Touro in Uptown," said Jones.

One face you'll see on the gingerbread streetcar every year is Jeremy Davenport because the Davenport Lounge is located in the Ritz-Carlton.
So, if you come from there or anywhere, you can always hop on a real streetcar to check out this sweet car.
"We want this to be a destination for people to come year after year in anticipation of who's going to be on the streetcar," said Jones.
