EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The El Paso Innovation Hub, a project of the El Paso Community Foundation, released the results of the El Paso Quality of Life (QoL) Index survey.
The survey sheds light on how some El Pasoans feel when it comes to topics that include healthcare, inequality, education, civic engagement, cultural identity, immigration, and more.
Eric Pearson, president and CEO of the El Paso Community Foundation, said that the survey is meant to be a tool, especially for those in local government.
“When you're in office and you're hearing that your constituency is satisfied or dissatisfied with different things, you want to build on those strengths and address those weaknesses, right?" Pearson said.
Among the several areas, the survey looked at is public safety.
According to recent data, crime rates in the city have increased over the past three years, with 2023 seeing the highest number of crimes.
However, 26 percent of those surveyed still feel that El Paso is a safe city, according to the survey.
