(COLORADO SPRINGS) — For the 10th year, Richard Skorman, the now-famous “Downtown Parking Elf” and his sidekicks, Sonja and Molly the puppy, will once again be plugging parking meters for the holiday season. Skorman, a former City Councilmember, successful Downtown business owner and philanthropist, has been filling meters in the Downtown area for a decade in the hope of keeping people Downtown to enjoy the many shops and restaurants the area has to offer. PREVIOUS COVERAGE: Richard Skorman receives Lifetime Achievement award Skorman owns Poor Richard's Books and Gifts, Rico's Café and Wine Bar, Little Richard's Toy Store, and Poor Richard's Restaurant on Tejon Street just northwest of Acacia Park. He'll be filling meters Saturday, Dec. 14 through Monday, Dec. 23 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the 300 block of Tejon and beyond. If you can't catch the Elf himself outside and you need some meter money, just pop in to Poor Richard's or Little Richard's and ask for it. And don't forget, the City is offering free parking for all of Downtown parking garages, meters, and surface lots Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.
