LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- Clarke County prosecutors said they would not pursue charges against a Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Board Member, who got into a physical fight with someone during a public forum last month.
The Loudoun County School Board said the alleged altercation happened during a public forum on Nov. 18 at Smart's Mill Middle School. The board did not name who was involved in the fight, but condemned the member's actions.
"The Leesburg Police Department conducted an exhaustive investigation into the matter, which involved interviewing all involved parties, identifying and questioning witnesses, and collecting and analyzing all available video evidence. The findings were then presented to the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office for further consideration," the Leesburg Police Department (LPD) stated.

The Loudoun County Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney appointed a special prosecutor from Clarke County who concluded that, while the conduct was inappropriate, "it did not rise to the level warranting criminal prosecution," according to an LPD news release.
LPD and the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office noted that this outcome "does not condone or excuse the behavior involved. Instead, the decision reflects a prioritization of judicial resources for cases with a more direct impact on public safety and the community's well-being."
