Police: 16yearold dies in crash involving DUI driver in DC

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- D.C. police said a man was charged with driving under the influence after a crash resulted in the death of a 16-year-old boy on Tuesday morning.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), the crash happened on Dec. 10 just after 4 a.m. at the intersection of Southern Avenue and Reed Terrace Road SE. This is where the D.C. and Maryland state lines meet.
According to MPD, the 16-year-old boy was driving a Lexus when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection.
Police said that's when a person driving a Jeep Wrangler entered the intersection and collided with the car.

First responders were called to the scene and rescued the teenage driver and another 16-year-old boy from the Lexus.
Both teens were taken to the hospital; however, the teen who was driving, Areohn Savoy of Upper Marlboro, Md. died.
MPD said neither the driver nor the passenger in the Jeep were hurt during the crash.
As the investigation continued, police discovered the Lexus was reported stolen out of Prince George’s County, Md. and officers recovered a gun from the car.
Police said officers also arrested and charged the driver of the Jeep, 36-year-old Sean Stokes, of Clinton, MD, with Driving Under the Influence.
According to D.C. police, this is the second deadly crash reported on Southern Avenue since Monday, Dec. 9.
