KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- An inmate at the Lansing Correctional Facility is sentenced after attacking a corrections officer back in 2023. Justin Pierce, 41, was sentenced on Friday, Dec. 6, in Leavenworth County court to 10 years and 10 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections. Back in October, a jury found Pierce guilty of battery against a law enforcement officer. He was originally charged with two counts of battery, however, one count was dropped. Court documents said that the fight began on Jan. 8, 2023, after Pierce approached the officer and started arguing with them. The officer then told Pierce to go back to his cell, but he ignored the demand and entered the officer station instead. It was reported that Pierce then hit the officer with his fist, bruising the victim’s torso and legs.
