Bluffton Self Help in 'urgent need' of toy donations
Dec 11, 2024
BLUFFTON, S.C. (WSAV) – One local nonprofit's goal is to make sure all kids have presents under the tree for Christmas.
But as Bluffton Self Help says, Santa's sack full of toys is starting to feel empty.
"We have it where we have an urgent need for toys right now," said Courtney Hampson, executive director of the organization.
Hampson said this year, 350 more kids are on their list, putting a strain on their annual Santa Shop opening Friday.

While the community has come through with donations, the need is greater than ever.
"I've just signed two emergency financial assistance checks before I came down here to talk to you. That need is absolutely up," Hampson told News 3. "Last month we had 35 applications for financial assistance. So we plan our budget. We know that November and December are going to be the greatest need, but it is also the time of year when we raise the most money. So it's a constant dance."
Gifts for children ages 0 to 3 are most in need right now, Bluffton Self Help said, but any toy or money donations are always appreciated.
WSAV is proud to contribute to the Santa Shop through our Holiday Hope campaign. Unwrapped toys for Bluffton Self Help can be dropped off at the following Lowcountry locations:
