East Providence to have mandatory water meter system replacement at no cost
Dec 11, 2024
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The East Providence Water Utilities Division said the City will require a mandatory water meter system replacement in the upcoming weeks for all residents and commercial business customers.
East Providence is implementing a system-wide upgrade to its water metering system, which will increase each water meter’s reliability, long-term sustainability, and accuracy, according to EPWUD.
Additionally, EPWUD said customers will be able to to view water usage and receive potential leak alerts through the new customer portal.
The new water meter system will be completed at no cost for residents and customers.
Over the next few weeks, water customers will receive notices from Hydro Utilities in the mail with details regarding how to schedule a water replacement appointment and what to expect.
During the appointment, an adult must be present and sign a form to verify the replacement, and the area around the water meter must be accessible to the installer by five feet.
The 30-minute appointments will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The City of East Providence urges residents to schedule the appointment immediately.
