NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — The Newport Police Department said it is closing three roads due to “heavy surf and flooding.” The following roads have been closed: Harrison Avenue at Castle Hill Road; Ocean Avenue at Kings Beach; Ocean Avenue at Winans Road. In addition, the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority said that access to the Newport Pell Bridge  and Jamestown-Verrazzano Bridge has been restricted. #RITBA ALERT: Due to high winds, access is restricted to the Newport Pell and Jamestown-Verrazzano Bridges for house trailers/RVs, and empty enclosed trailers and school buses.
