Dec 11, 2024
WEATHER ALERT: Strong damaging wind gusts and periods of heavy rain will continue into the evening. Southerly gusts to 60mph will cause power outages this evening. In addition, periods of heavy rain will cause some street and poor drainage flooding.
Good Evening
Peak wind gust so far. 70 mph at the Conimicut Light House in Warwick RI
Stormy evening continues here in Southern New England. Charge up those cell phones and other electronic devices as power outages are possible.
Flood Watch has been issued for our area. Two to three inches of rain is possible with some isolated 4" amounts. This will lead to street and poor drainage flooding and some streams and brooks could overflow their banks.
The High Wind Warning issued yesterday has been expanded into northern Rhode Island. Southerly wind gusts to 60+mph expected with this storm, the strongest winds late this afternoon and early evening.
With these winds, there's a moderate to high risk of power outages for our area, although that risk is a little higher at the south coast.
