Lancaster County Sheriff's Cruiser (Jeff Motz/KFOR News)LINCOLN–(KFOR Dec. 11)–Some new details from Tuesday’s high-speed pursuit between Lincoln and Omaha, where four people from Illinois were arrested on drug-related offenses.
Lancaster County Sheriff’s Captain John Vik on Wednesday said suspected elicit fentanyl pills were inside bags that were thrown out during the chase. It turns out the 8,600 pills found weighed almost two pounds.
Captain Vik said the pursuit started, after the Criminal Interdiction Unit pulled over a van east of Waverly for following too closely, driving on the shoulder and failing to signal a lane change west of the I-80/Highway 6 interchange. Arrested were 40-year-old Joseph Pate, 38-year-old Mattie Boyd, 21-year-old Hayley Kaebel and 19-year-old Trey Franko. Boyd was apprehended in the initial stop, while the other three that took off were later arrested near the Omaha National Cemetery in Sarpy County.
