KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) is releasing more information in the case surrounding the death of Dyamund Shields Jr., also known as DJ, who was the operator of the Chicken Macaroni and Cheese Food Truck. "This case is still considered active and ongoing," KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino said in a statement sent to FOX4 Wednesday. "Detectives are looking to identify all parties involved and will continue to pursue all leads." Person in custody after multiple hour-long standoff at Westport Shopping Center The Jackson County Prosecutor's Office has charged Derrion Turner with accessory to second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and other charges.  Tuesday, the Jackson County Prosecutor's Director of Communications Michael Mansur said that Turner was on federal parole at the time he was obtained at the Bureau of Prisons in Leavenworth, Kansas four days after the shooting. Ricky Kidd says his sister Nikki, Shields Jr.'s mother, called him to let him know that charges had been filed in relation to his nephew's death. "Maybe a sense of pride for the city of Kansas City, the community of Kansas City, for the DA's Office, for our Kansas City Police Department because this wasn't and perhaps it won't be an easy charge to continue a path with," Ricky said when asked what his response was to charges being filed. Ricky spent 23 years in prison for a double murder a judge later ruled he didn't commit. He says finding the elements to make and hold a charge isn't easy. "When you have a situation where close to 200 rounds of ammunition were fired from various weapons with various people shooting in the early morning, in the early hours of the morning, I just think there's a lot to sift through," Ricky said. Ricky said he hopes that if there are other people responsible for the death of his nephew, they're charged as well. "I actually think that it's a job well done for the police department and the Jackson County District Attorney's Office," he continued. Funeral home ‘relieved’ after charges filed in death of food truck operator Before KCPD commented Wednesday, Ricky's wife Dawn said she wanted police to keep looking for more people who were involved in the gunfight that happened early August 5 near 70th and Prospect. Five other people were shot that day, but Shields Jr. was the only person who died. "We have to be there for his daughters and his newborn baby," Dawn said, talking about Shields Jr. "I think that's the toughest part is seeing his kids suffer because now they're going to grow up without a father, and Nikki will spend the rest of her years you know, as no parent should, without her son, so it's hard to watch your loved ones go through things like this." "Anyone with information is encouraged to call the KCPD Homicide Unit or the TIPS hotline," DiMartino added. A hearing in Turner's case had not been set up, as of Wednesday afternoon.
