ELWOOD, Ind. — A man and woman are both dead after an apparent shooting inside their Elwood home. Elwood police were reportedly called on Thursday, Dec. 5, to a house on South G Street to perform a welfare check on 74-year-old Cynthia Odle. Upon arrival, officers found both Cynthia and her husband - 69-year-old Louis Odle - injured and unresponsive. Soon after, a local coroner arrived on scene and confirmed that both Cynthia and Louis were deceased. The cause of death was gunshot wounds. Elwood police officials said on Wednesday that officers had to force entry into the home before discovering Cynthia and Louis. Chief Jason Brizendine said police believe there is no ongoing threat to the community. No other information was provided as of 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
