MCPS community grieving after former coach dies from cancer

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- The Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) community is grieving after a long-time employee died from cancer.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the athletics department for James Hubert Blake High School shared the death of former boys soccer coach, Rudy Tyrell, who reportedly died from leukemia.
The department called Tyrell a "fixture" at Blake, where he served as a PE teacher and assistant principal. After leaving the high school, he continued working as an administrator for MCPS.

"Mr. Tyrell positively impacted many former Blake students and staff and will be missed," the athletics department expressed. "Please keep his family and all those who knew Mr. Tyrell in your thoughts."
Once finalized, funeral arrangements will be shared on the Blake Bengals Athletics social media.
