VIDEO: DOJ announces Operation Ghost Busted (File, 2023) BRUNSWICK, Ga. (WSAV) – A Jacksonville man, one of 76 defendants indicted in Operation Ghost Busted, has been sent to prison for distributing fentanyl. Larry Taylor, 59, received a 15-year sentence, according to U.S. Attorney Jill Steinberg with the Southern District of Georgia, after pleading guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute a quantity of fentanyl. Steinberg said Taylor distributed more than 3 kilograms of fentanyl, which is enough to kill the entire population of Brunswick. Operation Ghost Busted: Final defendant convicted As described in court, he has been arrested more than 50 times and has at least 10 prior felony convictions. Operation Ghost Busted has spanned over two years and spread across south Georgia, including in Camden, Dodge, Glynn, McIntosh, Pierce, Telfair, Toombs, Treutlen, Ware and Wayne counties. Officials said the drug conspiracy operated in and out of state prison facilities with help from at least one corrections officer. Members of the white supremacist street gang Ghostface Gangsters and affiliates of the Aryan Brotherhood, Bloods, and Gangster Disciples were also involved, according to officials. “It’s a remarkable illustration of the toll of death and destruction from Larry Taylor’s drug-dealing that overdoses in the Brunswick area plummeted after he and his co-conspirators were taken into custody in January 2023,” said Steinberg. “The investigation and prosecution in Operation Ghost Busted not only holds criminal behavior accountable – it also demonstrably saves lives.” Of the 76 original defendants in Operation Ghost Busted, 73 have been sentenced to prison terms of as much as life in prison after pleading guilty. Two are awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty.
