Racial slurs found written around Rhodes College campus

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Rhodes College is getting heat from students after racial slurs were found around the campus.
According to Lauren Robert, a student and a member of the National Pan-Hellenic Council, 13 sheets of paper were found in the front of the National Pan-Hellenic Council Plaza reading hateful words towards black students.
“They were vulgar,” Roberts said. "'F N-word, Trump Rules' that’s what it said.”
The NPHC Plaza is the only space on campus to pay tribute to the historically Black sororities and fraternities.
“I didn’t agree with it. I know a lot of my friends who were pretty upset about it," another student said.

Rhodes College released a statement saying, "We are working diligently to identify the person responsible for leaving a message of hateful rhetoric on our campus over the Thanksgiving break. It is still an active investigation. We are a community that is firmly committed to diversity, inclusion, belonging, civility, and respect, and we do not tolerate racial bias or hate speech.”
“Rhodes needs to find whoever did it, immediately," Roberts said. "They are saying they are investigating and doing this and that and the third but it’s been — two weeks and you still haven't found anybody that’s kind of like a bumper to the black community, in my opinion.”
The University will hold an open meeting about campus culture on Wednesday night.
