KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The District Court of Miami County, Kansas has charged a 16-year-old boy after investigators say he tried to conceal or destroy evidence relating to the death of a teenager on Wednesday, Dec. 4. According to court records filed on Dec. 5, the 16-year-old is being charged with one count of interfering with law enforcement officers and concealing/destroying evidence after a 15-year-old boy was found dead at a Spring Hill home, near West 231st Street and Lewis Drive. Man’s murder conviction vacated after more than 15 years in prison Specifically, the charge reads that the 16-year-old did "unlawfully and feloniously conceal, destroy, or materially alter evidence with intent to prevent or hinder the apprehension or prosecution of any person." Original reports of the case said that at about 2:58 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, deputies with the Miami County Sheriff's Office were called to the Spring Hill home in response to an unresponsive person. Charges dropped against one suspect in Shaun Brady killing After deputies arrived, they found the 15-year-old boy dead inside the home. At the same time, the 16-year-old boy was taken to a hospital and then later taken into custody at a juvenile detention facility. Both teens were students at the Spring Hill School District but were not related and lived in different cities. The 16-year-old's charges are a level 8 nonperson felony.
