KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Students and staff at Van Horn High School in Independence had to evacuate to the school's auditorium after a fire broke out on the roof of the school Wednesday.
In a letter to parents and staff, the Independence School District said that on Wednesday morning, workers on the roof of the high school reported a fire.
According to ISD, it is believed that the fire originated from an A/C unit which made the school's gymnasium fill with smoke.
