BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Jake, a 12-year-old therapy dog at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport, has died after a long battle with lymphoma. Airport officials announced the dog's death Tuesday on social media. They said he also had intestinal cancer. Meet the therapy dogs bringing smiles to hundreds of Western New Yorkers Jake was a part of the SPCA's Paws for Love Program that allows people to volunteer their pets to visit hundreds of locations, including nursing homes, group homes, and the airport, to provide support for those who need it. Comments from those who knew him described Jake as a gift, a good boy and a sweet dog. According to his Instagram page, Jake was also a comfort dog at Lakeside Funeral Home and greeted veterans coming back from honor flights.
