COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Columbus police are investigating the death of a person whose body was found in north Columbus Wednesday morning. Just before 8 a.m. reports were received of a person “down and out” at the Grant Park Apartments on North Grant Avenue in the Weinland Park neighborhood. Police secured an area of the parking lot and one of the apartment units at the complex. (NBC4/Isabel Cleary) A man was found dead in the breezeway of his apartment, and a second person took themselves to a nearby hospital, though police have not confirmed what led to the incident, which remains in the early stages of the investigation. Police did confirm a gun was found at the scene, but it is unknown if it played a part in the man's death. Police also said that the man who checked into the hospital is believed to have been involved, but did not clarify how, or the nature of his injury. The investigation is expected to take some time, said Sergeant James Fuqua, who is also asking for any witnesses to come forward with information. “Anything that you think could be connected, it's critically important to come forward with that because that could be the key piece of evidence to help us determine what actually happened," he said.
