NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A precautionary boil water advisory has been issued for parts of New Orleans East on Wednesday, Dec. 4. According to New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board officials, the decision was made following a consultation with the Louisiana Department of Health after a water main broke at the corner of Read Boulevard and Irby Street.   Male juvenile dead following New Orleans East armed robbery The advisory was put in place for the following areas: Morrison Road from Poitevent Ave. to Paris Road Paris Road from Morrison Rd. to Hayne Boulevard   Hayne Boulevard from Paris Road to 9600 Hayne Blvd. Poitevent Avenue from Irby Street to Morrison Road SWBNO officials reported the water pressure in the impacted areas fell below 20 psi possibly allowing bacteriological contaminants to enter the water supply. Crews have since restored pressure to the area but water quality samples are being collected for testing. Results are expected within 24 hours, according to SWBNO officials. Pedestrian dead following New Orleans East crash Resident are being asked to boil their water before use or use bottled water to cook, drink, clean food or brush their teeth out of an abundance of caution. Residents will be notified of when the advisory is over.
