Water shot more than 50 feet in the air after a 16-inch water main burst just before 4:45 p.m. Honolulu Police Department and Board of Water Supply crews responded to the scene.

Aiea resident Jess said she's never seen anything like this before. "It was pretty gnarly," she said.
"We were sitting up on the front porch right here and we saw some brown water, kind of bubble up out of the manhole and it started flooding the curb area and then all of a sudden it just exploded."
Jess added water wasn't the only thing raining down.
"I think the loudest noise was just the cement pieces hitting, kind of like hail."
Two cars parked on the road were severely damaged and waterlogged.

Officials said the main break also impacted water service for 54 townhomes.
Once the BWS was able to shut the water off just after 6 p.m. a massive hole the size of a car was left in the road.
"I was in shock. It's just something that you wouldn't want to see in your neighborhood, but at the same time it's just I guess an eye-catcher," said Aiea resident Jonah Quitog.
Alternate water sources are available. Residents are advised to bring their own containers to fill up with water.
As of Wednesday morning, crews were still making repairs.
