Colossal shells at the Chumley House in Fort Worth. | Manny Rodriguez
Is Casa Linda becoming the coolest place in town? Every month, a new crop of restaurants open in the Metroplex. While everyone loves a good steak house, sushi spot, and burgers, this round up will give you the high-end spots and the low-end spots that are new to town, be they good, bad, or so bad they’re good/so good they’re bad. Whether it’s a locally-owned restaurant or the latest addition of a chain, here’s what’s happening in the world of restaurant openings in Dallas and beyond for the month.

The Chumley House
3230 Camp Bowie Blvd., Suite 150 in Fort Worth
Dallas’s hottest hospitality group, Duro, opens its first restaurant in Fort Worth — that’s major news. That it was inspired by the principal’s research trips to London and features an array of British- and Indian-inspired dishes is unexpected for a Cowtown steakhouse. This is a great pick for places to dress up fancy and take a little trip to eat during the holiday season.
Be Home Soon
9540 Garland Road, Suite 407
We are straight up fascinated with this brand new spot in Casa Linda, which has a new menu each week, made up of whatever the owners want to make. Just a few dishes, nothing major. No standard menu to order from. It’s brilliant and unique in Dallas — no one else is doing this. We will report back.
Catch
3005 Maple Ave.
The month’s splashiest opening from an out-of-town spot was Catch, which is pretty, pretty, pretty good, even if it is seeking out Dallas’s “affluent” diners. If that’s not you, you can afford to go there and try the Catch Classics like a crunchy rice cake, filet skewer, or crispy chicken bao bun, each of which is priced individually. We loved the wedge salad, which was indeed a special dish. The real treat is the wine list, which is massive and full of variety. Even the by-the-glass offerings aren’t the usual stuff.
Victory Social
2323 Victory Ave.
How many times will we have to shout the story of this joint for you to get it and go in? One more couldn’t hurt. So, it’s a food hall, but it’s not — there is proper service, even at breakfast and lunch. Or you can walk up to a counter and order whatever you want. No pressure. There’s a tight breakfast counter, tacos, chicken sandwiches and other chicken things, a lunch bistro with salads and soups and all that jazz, an Italian spot, and a grill with burgers and the like. It’s all under the purview of chef Joshua Harmon, who has worked in his own restaurants around Dallas and Michelin-starred spots in NYC, as well as with Misti Norris of Petra and the Beast and Regino “Gino” Rojas of Revolver Taco. He knows his stuff. He does it all. It’s awesome.
MiYa Chinese
9540 Garland Road, Suite 383
A second cool spot made its home in Casa Linda Plaza — is there a trend happening here? Owners David Romano (CEO of Focused Restaurant Group, which also has Wok Star Chinese) and Jia Huang (founder of Jia Modern Chinese) teamed up on this spot with chef Wei Luo. The menu features dim sum, lunch specials, hand-pulled noodles, and the traditional combination of Chinese-American entrees and chef’s specials like crispy duck breast and a dish called Dragon and Phoenix that sounds incredible. Let’s go.
Dulce Nina
1800 S. Ervay St., #A
The Cedars gots a cool spot, courtesy of the owners of the Tacos, Bites & Beats food truck. It’s a restaurant and bar, hitting the same notes as the food truck, for which dance music is a big party of the thrill. The menu is expanding here, however, beyond tacos and to include wings, hummus, and burgers under the direction of Bharat Bala, CultureMap Dallas reports. And, of course, there will be cocktails.
