LAWNDALE, NC – A 1-year-old is in the hospital after investigators say the child’s 3-year-old sibling accidently shot them. The shooting happened on Tuesday at a home on Buck Horn Lane in the Cleveland County town of Lawndale. According to a news release, the 1-year-old is being treated at Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte and is expected to make a full recovery. Witnesses told deputies the 3-year-old accidently fired a gun that was being kept inside the home. There’s no word if any adults will face charges. The sheriff’s office says the investigation is ongoing and is stressing the importance of proper firearm storage and safety.
