Baltimore road closures and parking restrictions ahead of Monument Lighting

Baltimore will implement road closures and parking restrictions starting Wednesday in preparation for the 53rd annual lighting of the Washington Monument on Thursday.The Monument Lighting event will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mount Vernon Place, with the actual lighting of the monument happening at __In advance of Thursday’s festivities, Baltimore will close the following streets from 10:30 a.m. Wednesday through 11:59 p.m. Thursday:The west side of North Charles Street from East Centre Street to East Madison Street
The west side of Mount Vernon Place (both sides) from North Charles Street to Cathedral StreetThe city will also close the following streets from 6 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Thursday:The east side of North Charles Street from East Centre Street to Read Street
Madison Street from St. Paul Street to Cathedral Street
Mount Vernon Place (both sides) from St. Paul Street to North Charles StreetDetours and parking restrictions will be in effect during these periods. Motorists can access live detour navigation through the Waze app. Transportation Enforcement Officers and the Baltimore City Police will also help direct traffic.Vehicles that violate posted parking restrictions will be ticketed and towed.Detours will be in effect Thursday for the Charm City Circulator along the Purple Route. Patrons can view information about Charm City Circulator service on the Passio GO! App or on the Charm City Circulator website.
